AAI’s Arab American Generations program will be participating in the National Day of Service and Remembrance and in partnership with Day To Serve, an initiative that brings together residents in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia for service opportunities during September and October. Each year, AAI participates and hosts various events helping communities in the DMV area. AAI Participates in 8th Annual Arab American Service Day

On Saturday, May 19th, more than 20 Arab American organizations across the country took part in the 8th annual National Arab American Service Day. Organized each year by the National Network of Arab American Communities (NNAAC), National Arab American Service Day brings together Arab Americans for a day of giving back to their communities and building bridges with local charities and organizations.

Arab American Service Day

On May 14th, the Arab American Institute Foundation and the Network of Arab American Professionals hosted a storytelling and bookmaking workshop for local youth, as part of the National Arab American Service Day. 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance

In 2003, congress passed the “Serve America Act”, part of which designated September 11 as a day of Service and Remembrance. In 2009, as part of his United We Serve initiative, President Obama made 9/11 Day of Remembrance a permanent service day. This year AAI and NAAP-DC are joining forces for 9/11 Day of Remembrance and collaborating with Greater DC Cares to give back to the community in honor of this day of service.
