In recent months, Indiana Governor and potential presidential candidate Mitch Daniels has come under scrutiny from some conservative groups, for suggesting the GOP call a “truce” on social issues with liberals in order to focus the country’s political efforts on more pressing fiscal issues. Mitch Daniels and 2012

With midterms behind us, all eyes (and money and analysis and speculation, etc) have now shifted to 2012.  Yesterday, The Hotline released its inaugural edition of the “Presidential Power Rankings,” examining the most likely Republicans to end up with the nomination in 2012.  On the short list of contenders is none other than Arab American Mitch Daniels, who will also receive the Najeeb Halaby Award for Public Service at our 2011 Gibran Awards Gala.

9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance

In 2003, congress passed the “Serve America Act”, part of which designated September 11 as a day of Service and Remembrance. In 2009, as part of his United We Serve initiative, President Obama made 9/11 Day of Remembrance a permanent service day. This year AAI and NAAP-DC are joining forces for 9/11 Day of Remembrance and collaborating with Greater DC Cares to give back to the community in honor of this day of service.
