On International Human Rights Defenders Day (Dec. 9, 2016), AAI is working to bring attention to Palestinian activists who have been silenced, intimidated, harassed, imprisoned, and even killed for their advocacy efforts. Non-violent Palestinian human rights defenders are critical voices exposing the oftentimes brutal reality of living under occupation. Palestinian journalists, activists, and civil society organizations are important forces for justice and accountability, and today we honor them.

We also call attention to the ways Palestinian solidarity activists in the United States have had their freedom of speech, freedom of association, and academic freedoms threatened because of their peacefully held political views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. AAI is working urgently to fight against unconstitutional and undemocratic efforts to silence debate around critical issues of human rights, U.S. foreign policy, and democratic ideals.

Please join our efforts and support Palestinian human rights defenders on this day, and every day. You can tweet your support using #HumanRightsDefenders along with your message, or retweet us here:
