AAI Statement on the Trump Administration’s Latest Iteration of the Muslim Ban

Washington, D.C.—Arab American Institute Executive Director Maya Berry issued the following statement:  

“This is now the 4th version of the Muslim Ban. In addition to the countries listed under Proclamation 9645, the following countries are under some level of travel restriction: 

Burma* 

Eritrea* 

Iran 

Kyrgyzstan* 

Libya 

Nigeria* 

North Korea 

Somalia 

Sudan* 

Syria 

Tanzania* 

Venezuela 

Yemen

Nine of these countries have large Muslim populations, but one principle unites the multiple versions of the Muslim and refugee bans: white nationalism. Today's news reaffirms the need to pass the NO BAN Act. Congress must act now.”
