Each month, AAI’s Generations series brings together Arab American professionals in the Washington, DC area to celebrate, learn, and network with one another. From college interns to seasoned professionals, Generations convenes talented, passionate Arab Americans from all professional backgrounds to learn from one another. The Arab American community in DC is a valuable resource for new professionals as well as a platform for our brightest leaders to develop the next generation of Arab American stars.

The Arab American Institute exists to empower Arab Americans as leaders in their community and in the public sphere. In 2010, the Arab American Institute Foundation launched the Emerging Leaders Program to better engage with our highly-motivated students, young professionals, and emerging leaders. For the past five years, ELP was a huge success as Arab American students and professionals interacted with others and gained one-of-a-kind insight from key note guests during monthly networking events. The Emerging Leaders Program has now evolved into Arab American Generations (AAG), a more comprehensive, integrated approach to more fully engage our alumni, our veteran members of ELP, as well as with the next generation of Arab American professionals.

Generations will host monthly gatherings with food, fun, opportunities to network, and Arab American guest speakers who are engaged in important work that impacts our community. Past speakers have included White House staff, Arab American members of Congress, community activists, and business leaders. We also gather to celebrate occasions like Ramadan and cultural events, and to watch significant TV coverage of political events like election results and State of the Union speeches. Generations also leads two Arab American Service Days in May and November to give back to the communities we live in. Stay tuned for opportunities to volunteer at AAI’s Yalla Vote events, and trainings on topics from “How to Get a Job at the State Department” to “Communications Bootcamp.”

Any and all Arab Americans who find themselves in the DC metro area are welcome to join AAI’s Arab American Generations. If you are interested in becoming involved, please contact us.
