The Arab American Institute Foundation (AAIF) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Helen Abbott Community Service Awards.
Now in its 20th year, AAIF presents awards to exceptional Arab American students for their leadership and dedication to community service. The awards’ namesake, Helen Abbott, is remembered for her lifelong commitment to improving the lives of those around her, including for building 22 homes for disadvantaged families in her Fort Pierce, Florida area.
Ms. Abbott was a life-long friend of AAI as a founding member, generous supporter and vocal advocate for the Arab American community. The causes to which Helen Abbott devoted herself serve as an important reminder for today’s young leaders about the powerful impact local action can have towards creating meaningful change.
Awards of $1,000 are given in two categories: high school, and undergraduate college/university students. For more information including eligibility and required documents, and to access the application form, please visit this page.
This year, the Awards have transitioned to an online submission portal which is now live and embedded in our website (link above). Please note that as part of this shift, letters of recommendation must be submitted separately via e-mail, by the recommender only.
Please share this widely with the Arab American students in your networks. Questions about the Awards or the application process should be directed to Tess Waggoner.
