Last night the Arab American Institute hosted our 4th annual Arab American Generations Iftar. Over 100 summer interns, students and professionals from all around the DMV area gathered at the AAI headquarters to break fast and share a meal together.

Executive Director Maya Berry welcomed our guests and shared a few words on the work done by AAI and ways to get involved. She also highlighted and promoted a charity organization that does amazing work with Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Shatila, Lebanon. Basmeh and Zeitooneh is a grassroots Lebanese organization, dedicated to serving Syrian refugees and vulnerable communities in Lebanon. It operates through a series of community centers, whereby the local population has access to small-scale, inclusive and developmental projects, through these shared focal points in highly marginalized areas.

AAI’s Arab American Generations program allows young professionals, including current AAI interns and recent graduates in the DC area, to gather monthly and to learn about important topics to the Arab American community from prominent leaders and experts in their respective fields.
