We have some urgent and important news to tell you:
It appears that both the House and Senate are moving forward with troubling legislation that would grant visa waivers to Israel. We’ve told you about Rep. Ros-Lehtinen’s bill before, H.R. 938 the “United States-Israel Strategic Partnership Act of 2013,” which currently has more than 300 cosponsors. We’ve also told you about the Senate version of that bill, S. 462, introduced by Senator Barbara Boxer, which currently has 46 co-sponsors.
If passed, these bills would essentially codify into law policies at the Israeli border that discriminate against Americans. We cannot include Israel in our Visa Waiver Program because of its decades-long history of engaging in racial, ethnic, and religious discrimination against US citizens of Arab and/or Muslim background attempting to enter Israel and Palestine.
This isn’t about Israel - it’s about Congress protecting the rights of American citizens and calling for equal protection under the law.
We’re told that H.R. 938 will likely be brought up for a vote before the August recess. That is less than three weeks away! S. 462 could be voted on as early as September. We need you to take action TODAY! Contact your members of Congress and tell them to defend the rights of all Americans and ask that they oppose the visa waiver for Israel provision in all pending legislation: (H.R. 300, H.R. 938, S. 462, and S. 266)comments powered by Disqus
