Building on the release of AAI's "Advocacy Road Map," Government Relations Director Nadia Aziz joined activists in Philadelphia on Sunday, January 22 to discuss the community's immediate priorities and help develop them into an action plan.  "The November election jolted many in our community, especially given our stance for immigrant rights and religious freedom. So, it's important for us to get together, as a  community, to figure out how to deal with the potential domestic and foreign challenges. Urge Your Member of Congress to Stand Behind President Obama’s Actions at the UN Security Council

Posted on January 04, 2017 in Action Alerts

Yesterday, the House and the Senate introduced legislation that would object to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 as “as an obstacle to Israeli-Palestinian peace.” H.R. 11 & S. Res 11 companion bill are unfounded and unwise criticisms of the Obama administration for abstaining from the UNSC resolution which condemned Israel for its settlements in the occupied West Bank. Contrary to what these bills (H.R. 11 & S.R. 11) say, they do NOT aim to support the peace process. That was made even more clear when...

Support Free Speech

Senator Casey (D-PA) and Senator Scott (R-SC) co-sponsored a bi-partisan bill titled “Anti-Semitism Awareness Act of 2016.” This bill uses the State Department definition of anti-Semitism and applies in domestic settings of schools and college campuses. It would expand the definition of Title VI protection to include criticism of Israel. This would threaten free speech. At a time when hate crimes against minority communities have increased, it is imperative that our elected officials do not conflate criticisms of policies and political opposition with instances of hate.

Posted on September 15, 2016 in Action Alerts

At a time when “terrorist watch lists” have become a regular a part of public discourse - often in conjunction with the problematic “No Fly, No Buy” legislation - some leaders in Congress are working to make sure the government watch-listing process is reformed, and they need your support.  Leaked information from the government documents shows that Arab Americans and American Muslims are acutely impacted by government watchlisting.
