Arab American organizations across the country will participate in the 11th annual Arab American Service Day on May 16th. Arab American Service Day is an opportunity for Arab Americans to give back to their communities and partner with local organizations and charities.

This year, the Arab American Institute partnered with the Neighborhood Farm Initiative (NFI), a community garden that serves kids, adults, and neighbors of the Fort Totten area. NFI seeks to ensure that DC Metro area residents have access to fresh, local produce by working with community members to develop the skills to grow their own food. NFI donates its entire harvest to the local Fort Totten community and organizations, such as Thrive DC. Over 20 volunteers helped to weed, dig, compost and mulch the farm, preparing it for planting. It was a great day to be outside and enjoy the beautiful spring weather while getting involved and helping the local community.
