American Perceptions of an Arab-Israeli Peace:
A New Zogby Poll on Domestic Attitudes Toward Obama’s Middle East Policy
On Monday, President Obama sits down with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, beginning an intense two week engagement with Middle East leaders. The new release of a Zogby Interactive survey offers critical insight to the undercurrents running through the political landscape here in the United States.
The poll indicates that majorities share the President’s goals and will support his efforts to press both parties for peace. But it also reveals a deep partisan divide, with voters who supported the President overwhelmingly supporting a “get tough” policy to stop settlements and achieve a two-state solution to the conflict.
