ACTION ALERT: RASHID KHALIDI

ACTION ALERT: RASHID KHALIDI

We could focus on the negative aspects of this despicable smear campaign perpetrated against yet another Arab American… But we are again heartened by the outpouring of positive support for Khalidi, and hope that the nation is rallying to the defense of Arab Americans, who have for so long in this election cycle been the mud slung by one opponent at another.

Remind the media that there are hearts and voices behind the people who are being needlessly vilified by the latest smear campaigns. Make your voices heard this weekend, and let us know what you’ve done! Email me at czola@aaiusa.org –and if there are other, positive writings about Khalidi you’d like us to thank, please let me know. This isn’t a complete list by any means. But it’s a great start.

Thank these writers for their defense of Khalidi:

The Washington Post for its editorial

FOX News deserves no praise for its handling of this situation; its aggressive media scare tactics caused the AAAN office in Chicago to close to protect its employees. Call Chairman and Chief Executive Office Roger E. Ailes at (212) 301-3000 and ask  him to raise the bar at his network. You might want to give him a short lesson in foreign policy history:

The banquet in Khalidi’s honor occurred in 2003. After the Madrid Conference in 1991, the PLO was no longer considered by the United States or Israel to be a terrorist organization. In fact, those two nations were late inrecognizing the PLO’s authority, as most of the rest of the world had considered the PLO as the legitimate representation for the Palestinian people since that organization’s admittance into the UN in 1974.
