Dr. James Zogby to Testify before the DNC 2008 Platform Committee

Dr. James Zogby, President of the Arab American Institute, Democratic Super Delegate and member of Obama’s Foreign Policy Committee on Arab-Israeli Affairs, is scheduled to appear before the 2008 Platform Committee of the Democratic National Committee to testify on issues that Arab Americans are facing.

As a community that maintains close ties to the Middle East, where the United States was once revered, Arab Americans are stung by anti-American anger, and the disgrace brought to our nation by Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, and torture. At the same time, recent Arab immigrants have been profiled, detained, and deported without due process. The values that America once projected to the world and protected at home, we now see being steadily degraded.

Dr. Zogby’s testimony will reveal the positions many Arab Americans expressed in the platform writing events hosted by AAI members across the country. He will highlight the issues that uniquely affect the Arab American community, and outline policy objectives to resolve them.
