AAI Hosts TX and VA Candidates’ Nights

WASHINGTON – Oct. 12, 2006 – The Arab American Institute (AAI) is joining with local Arab American groups in Virginia and Texas to host two Candidates’ Nights this weekend.

In Vienna, Va., AAI will host the 18th annual Virginia Candidates’ Night and Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 15 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event, attended each year by several hundred Arab Americans, will feature U.S. Senate candidate Jim Webb and a representative from incumbent Senator George Allen’s campaign. Other confirmed candidates include 8th Congressional District Rep. Jim Moran, 10th Congressional District candidate Judy Feder, 11th Congressional District candidate Andy Hurst and candidates from Arlington County supervisor and school board races.

Special guest Governor Tim Kaine will speak about the contributions of the Arab American community in Virginia. Tickets for this great event are still available!

In Houston, the Arab American Voters Coalition and AAI and will jointly host the Texas Candidates’ Night on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. Candidates from the races in Texas’s 2nd, 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 18th and 22nd Congressional Districts are slated to attend, including Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, Gary Binderim, Jim Henley and Jim Wright. All are welcome to attend.
