WASHINGTON – A proposal by Arab American Institute (AAI) President James Zogby to create interactive television shows to foster dialogue between students in the U.S. and the Arab World received praise at the recent 2006 Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York.

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright welcomed Zogby’s proposal to create four live, interactive television shows, giving students from Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States the opportunity to exchange ideas and, in Albright’s words, “break down the two frequent barriers of distrust and ignorance.”

Produced by Abu Dhabi TV, the shows will be aired in the U.S. and Europe. Partnering with Abu Dhabi TV in putting the project together is Americans for Informed Democracy, a grassroots student organization, and Link TV.

“To have this additional way of talking with each other is a real contribution to what we are trying to do,” said Albright, “so Jim, thank you very, very much.”
