WASHINGTON – US Senator John Sununu honored Arab Americans in the federal government and in military service during an event to commemorate the terrorist attacks of September Eleventh.
The event sponsored by the Arab American Institute was held in Washington D-C yesterday.
Sununu, the junior Republican senator from New Hampshire, is of Lebanese descent.
He said Arab Americans in government should share their experiences and cultural understanding.
He also presented an award to a member of the U-S Marine Corps who is a Purple Heart recipient. Sununu said the country is grateful for the service of Arab American Marines and recognized several who were in the audience.
