Rick Perry is one of the longest continuously-serving American governors. He opposes federal abortion funding and supports the individual right to keep and bear arms. Perry supports imposing a no-fly zone over Syria and placing sanctions on the Iranian Central Bank. During his time as Texas governor, more than two hundred death penalties have been carried out. Perry supports strong border control and has also stated that it is heartless not to educate illegal immigrant children. He is also a strong supporter of the state of Israel. He has criticized President Obama for his “policy of appeasement” and for giving “equal standing” between the troubles Israelis and Palestinians in peace talks. Perry has rejected an isolationist policy and has expressed approval of the Arab Spring. Perry is also known for having a positive relationship with Muslim communities and supported educational curriculum about Islam in Texas schools.
