Tell Congress Bigotry In Law Enforcement Is Not Acceptable
On Monday, Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC) sent around a Dear Colleague letter asking her fellow Members of Congress to sign on to a letter to U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Attorney General Eric Holder regarding their ongoing review of FBI, Army, and law enforcement training programs. The training programs are under review following revelations that they use materials and manuals that equate “mainstream” Muslims with terrorists. But Myrick thinks it’s the investigations, not the training materials, that should be scrutinized. She’s “concerned that the political nature of these reviews might inadvertently weaken our law enforcement and military counter-terrorism training programs by censoring certain language that is used to objectively identify the asymmetrical threats that are present in today's world.”
