Please join us for the thirteenth annual Kahlil Gibran Awards Gala that will be held on May 4th, 2011.
This year's awardees include Vital Voices, an organization that identifies, trains and empowers emerging women leaders and social entrepreneurs around the globe, including the Middle East. Throughout the Arab world they work with businesswomens associations, civil society leaders, and peace building initiatives to support women's entrepreneurship and empowerment, strengthen their networks, and promote sustainable partnerships.
Additionally, Governor Mitch Daniels will be receiving the 2011 Najeeb Halaby Award for Public Service in honor of his work for the state of Indiana as well as his participation in two presidential administrations. Governor Daniels has been a supporter of AAIs mission since our founding and we are delighted to be honoring him this year, as Washington is abuzz about his possible presidential run. The US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants will be given a special recognition award to celebrate its 100 years of commitment to advancing fair and humane policy and providing direct professional services for immigrants worldwide.
Additionally, at the gala we will be recognizing the Youth of the Arab Spring, the young men and women whose collective courage has inspired millions around the world to follow their example and affect change in their own countries. Please consider joining us in Washington to honor these young people as well as our other extremely deserving awardees.
