Yesterday, Michigan, Kansas and Missouri held their primary elections. We, unfortunately, couldn't coerce any Arab Americans to run for public office in this year's elections in Kansas or Missouri, but we do have victories to declare in Michigan. Of the 9 Arab American candidates in races across the state, 4 won their primaries and will be moving on the general election on November 2, 2010. To those who lost, better luck next time! To those moving on, congratulations and we hope for the best in November.
- State Representative Justin Amash solidly wins the Republican nomination for U.S. Representative of Michigan's 3rd district
- Incumbent State Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-12th District) beat her challenger Jim Czachorowski by a landslide
- Two Dearborn City Council members, Suzanne Sareini (R) and George Darany (D), now move forward to face each other in the race to represent Michigan’s 15th District
- Dennis Denno (D) is running for Michigan State University's Board of Trustees and his election is on August 28th, so stay tuned for those results
