This year marks the 15th anniversary of the tragic terrorist attacks on 9/11. Every year since then, AAI has proudly joined groups across the country in commemorating the victims and first responders by participating in the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance. This year, the national day of service falls on Saturday, September 10th and we would love for you to join us. We’re excited to be working in partnership with Day To Serve, an initiative that brings together residents in DC, MD, VA, and WV for service opportunities during September and October.

We will be volunteering at a local Washington, DC elementary school in need of a fresh coat of paint and gardening help. In addition to seeking volunteers of all ages, painting expertise, and gardening experience, we’d welcome donations of painting supplies that we are contributing to meet the school’s needs. Please contact Yasmin to learn about the supplies we need and to coordinate your donations.

What: National Day of Service and Remembrance with AAI

When: September 10th from 10:00am – 12:00pm

Where: Address will be provided upon RSVP

RSVP: Please register here no later than September 7th at 5:00pm.

The September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance spans across all 50 states. The inspiring tradition of volunteerism on 9/11 is a powerful and forward-looking tribute to the 9/11 victims, survivors, and those who rose up in service in response to the attacks. Volunteers across the nation will participate in opportunities to paint and refurbish homes, run food drives, spruce up schools, reclaim neighborhoods, and support and honor veterans, soldiers, military families, and first responders.

We would love to have you join us in giving back to the DC metro area community. Lunch will be served at 12 pm.

For questions or if you would like to carpool or need a ride to the event, please contact Yasmin Hussein at 202-429-9210 or yhussein@aaiusa.org.
