Jim Coury, Arab American and Georgetown University student at the School of Foreign Service (Class of 2015), has made it to the Semi-Finals of the Jeopardy! “College Championship.”
Coury will be competing against other students from University of Wisconsin/Madison and Washington University in the Semi-Finals on May 15, 2013. The competition is part of the two-week “College Championship” in which college students are quizzed on issues from a variety of categories.
A long-time Jeopardy! enthusiast, Coury has been dreaming about being on the show since age ten, reports Georgetown University paper The Hoya. He has previously competed in a number of other trivia competitions in high school, including Quiz Bowl.
After completing the application process through a 50-question online test, an interview and simulated Jeopardy! game, Coury was selected to be among the 15 students from across the nation to participate in the show.
The winner of the competition will take home around $100,000 and earn a spot in the Jeopardy! “Tournament of Champions.” Most contestants will go home with a prize ranging between $5,000 and $50,000.
As Coury relishes the experience, we will be looking out for his continued success. He will appear on ABC 7 at 7:30 pm on May 15th for the Semi-Finals round.
