Posted on Friday June 8, 2007

I always had a strong sense of the life my parents were forced to leave behind. I was a product of my parents memories, narratives and opinions. An equally painful aspect of the war was the celebration by my American colleagues and neighbors of the Israeli victory, as if it was the United States who fought and won the war. The Palestinians need their own state, I raised a fist ala’ in the olympic and screamed to Guy instead, "Next year in Jerusalem!" Inshaallah The two boys carried the sewing machine between them, each holding on to an improvised handle, careful not to trip and drop the heavy item. “I saw the Ottomans leave, I saw the British leave and I’ll see the Israelis leave,” he said. |
A very special thank you to UNRWA and to Luke Powell for the use of their photos archives
