AAI is renewing its efforts to increase the number of Arab Americans serving on their local party committees. Local party committee members have opportunities to interact with local party leaders and help set the agenda of their party on an ongoing basis. Since party leaders and committee members get to know each other and work together year-round for the party’s goals and candidates, committee members’ views on the issues they hold dearest will be considered more seriously than those of activists who show up only every two or four years at caucuses and conventions.

The Virginia Democrats had the earliest election date this year, and we are pleased to announce that Maram Abdelhamid, Jamal Awamleh and Fred Shwaery have been re-elected to their local committees, and Matt Zogby has been newly elected to the Charlottesville Democratic Committee.
