AAI National Policy Council Member Sami Merhi on Saturday received the Passaic County Democratic party’s endorsement to run for Freeholder (similar to county commissioner). The Bergen Record has since reported that New Jersey’s Democratic Governor Corzine and US Senator Robert Menendez have declined to support his candidacy, citing comments on Palestine Merhi made four years ago during a fund-raiser he organized for U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr, D-Paterson. As of this writing, Pascrell was still supporting Merhi’s candidacy.
