Election 2008: An Arab American in Iowa
Posted on Tuesday April 17, 2007
Arab American Institute President James Zogby recently toured the first caucus state, injecting the Middle East into the race for the White House by urging Iowans to aggressively question candidates on their policies for the region, including in Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine.
“You wanted to be first; you’re first,” Zogby said. “You have a responsibility to ask the tough questions we can’t ask. … 2008 is going to come. November’s going to come. We’re still going to be (in Iraq). It’s not too late to ask questions … and hold candidates accountable.”
