Kerry Edwards Team Briefs Arab Americans on Debate
Posted on Wednesday September 29, 2004
WASHINGTON – Forty Arab American leaders from across the nation, including the key battleground states of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida, were briefed by Kerry/Edwards staff and advisors on what they could expect from the Senator during this evening’s debate in Miami.
Participating in the conference-call briefing for the Kerry/Edwards team was the candidate’s brother Cameron Kerry, Campaign Co-Chair Jeanne Shaheen, Deputy Campaign Manager Steve Elemendorf, Foreign Policy Advisor Dr. Susan Rice and Coalitions Director Mona Pasquil.
“This was a significant briefing by Kerry/Edwards’ top people. We raised tough issues and made a few suggestions and the responses demonstrate that this campaign values Arab Americans,” said Arab American Democrat and DNC Executive Committee Member James Zogby.
Kerry/Edwards New Hampshire Chair Bill Shaheen, also an Arab American, said, “I am thrilled that there is a political party in America that accepts everybody regardless of their ethnic background or faith and it’s the Democratic Party. And we welcome everybody, Democrats, Republicans and Independents to rebuild America, the America that this president has torn down, both here at home and abroad.”
