Short for Governor

Arab American candidate Sal Mohamed won almost 1500 votes but fell short in his bid for the Democratic nomination for Governor. The winner in that four-way race was Secretary of State Chet Culver, with just over 57,000 votes. Culver will face current 1st district U.S. Rep. Jim Nussle in November in what the National Journal sees as the fourth most competitive Governor’s race in the country. The three most competitive governor’s races are all in states with significant Arab American populations: New York, Ohio, and as noted, Massachusetts.
