The Gabr Fellowship Program has created a unique space for Americans and Egyptians to bridge the East-West divide. The 2014 class of Fellows will meet with leading figures in policymaking, civic engagement, communications and business and visionaries from the arts and academia. A unifying theme of the American program will be the diversity of America—the degree to which the country has succeeded as an open and absorptive society and the way we deal with the problems that remain. The program in Egypt will provide a hands-on, in-depth exploration of Egyptian history, culture, politics, and enterprise. The young men and women participating in the program are shaping their countries’ futures, forging their alliances, creating their businesses, and setting their roles on the global stage.
