The Network for Arab American Professionals (NAAP) celebrated their 10th year anniversary with a cozy reception on Friday, November 11 at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Palestinian Ambassador Maen Rashid Areikat and the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee’s (ADC) President Warren David were among the attendees. The night started with a warm welcome by the NAAP-DC Committee, including officers Samer Korkor, the Chapter President, and Fatima Ahmed, the National Liaison. The entire committee expressed their deep respect for Hanna Hanania, the founder of the first NAAP Chapter, who was honored for jumpstarting the organization in 2001. Ten years later, NAAP is now celebrating the creation of eight chapters all over the U.S. and over 1000 members living in the Maryland, Virginia, and DC area alone.
The night continued with a video montage of leading figures in the Arab American Community including the Arab American Institute’s President, James Zogby, Emmy and Golden Globe Winner, Tony Shalhoub, New York Arab American activist, Linda Sarsour, and comedians Dean Obeidallah and Said Durrah. Following the video montage was a multimedia slideshow with pictures of other NAAP chapters from across the country including Los Angeles, Houston, Boston, and New York City. After a three course meal, the gala ended with attendees dancing to the music of fabulous international disc jockey, Bassam Haddad.comments powered by Disqus
