Senate Committee Assesses Border Security Progress
This afternoon, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will hold a hearing entitled “Securing the Border: Building on the Progress Made.” The hearing will be held at 2:30pm in the Dirksen Senate Office Building in room 342. There are three witnesses scheduled to testify:
- The Honorable Asa Hutchinson – Former Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Border and Transportation Security
- The Honorable Doris Meissner – Former Commissioner of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service
- Richard M. Stana – Director, Homeland Security and Justice Issues, U.S. Government Accountability Office
This will be an important hearing to watch, given that many policy makers are now saying that immigration reform must be put on hold until the border is secured.
