Engaging Diaspora Communities to Foster Diplomacy and Development Overseas

The Global Diaspora Forum begins today. In collaboration with USAID and the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), the Secretary of State’s Office of Global Partnerships will hold the 3-day forum to discuss ways to achieve U.S. foreign policy goals through models of diplomacy and development.   

AAI President Jim Zogby will join several other experts on the Effective Engagement Strategies panel today at 1:45pm.

The forum’s stated goals are to:

  • Recognize and celebrate the contribution of diaspora communities to America’s relationship with their countries of origin or ancestry
  • Foster diaspora-centric partnership models
  • Encourage intra-diaspora collaboration and learning
