Charles Boustany Wins Runoff in Louisiana

After a close run-off election with Congressman Jeff Landry, Arab American Congressman Charles Boustany successfully won his fifth term in office for his Louisiana district. Boustany’s election marks the return of all five Arab American members of Congress, and the official end of the 2012 congressional election.
The Boustany-Landry race pitted two incumbent Republican Congressmen against one another after being re-districted together. However, Boustany’s strong relations with key Republican leaders, and his substantial donations from Louisiana medical professionals, successfully overcame Landry’s strong Tea Party base.
AAI congratulates Boustany on his election, and we look forward to his continued advocacy of Arab American issues and causes.
