Arab American Vote Courted in Texas

Posted by AAI at 10:39 am

A local television station did a report highlighting the state's gubernatorial candidates reaching out to Arab American voters. Incumbent Republican Governor Rick Perry is running for reelection to a third term, and his Democratic challenger is Bill White, the former Mayor of Houston. Both candidates appeared before 615 community members at the Arab American Voters Candidate Night last night in Houston, TX.

Arab Americans are hosting Candidate Nights all over the country - Virginia Arab Americans will hear from their candidates on October 10th, with Chicago hosting local candidates on October 14th.  Groups in Los Angeles will soon be hosting a town hall on racial profiling and immigration issues, and Arab American Family Support Center in New York is hosting two major voter engagement events on October 13th and 18th, providing demonstrations how to use the new voting machines and registering local individuals to vote.

Don't see your event listed? Add your event to our national calendar. Don't forget that AAI serves as a national resource for Arab American voters and organizations, and we can help you set up a candidate night as well as provide additional materials for your event.  If you're interested in organizing a candidate night or voter engagement event in your area, contact us to see how we can help.
