A measure put forth yesterday by Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) aims to rectify some of the most glaring abuses of the NDAA, and to ensure that the bill “does not authorize the indefinite detention—without charge or trial—of U.S. citizens who are apprehended domestically.” The bill would protect the rights of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents and would “state unequivocally that the government cannot indefinitely detain American citizens or lawful U.S. residents without charge.” Read More »
