Former AAI Field Director Named to Top Post in Michigan Young Democrats

Kenwah Dabaja, AAI’s former Michigan Field Director, was recently appointed regional director for the Michigan Young Democrats (MYD) in the state’s 13th, 14th and 15th congressional districts. In her voluntary post, Dabaja will be responsible for membership recruitment, outreach and development in the three districts, represented by key Democratic members of congress: Carolyn Kilpatrick, John Conyers and John Dingell.

Arab American Heads Up Obama Effort in Scott County, IA

AAI member Mehdi Alhassani is currently working as a field organizer for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in Scott County, IA. The county consists of both urban areas, including Davenport, and rural ones. Alhassani is a former member of AAI’s Youth Council and a recent graduate of George Washington University.
AAI Members Climb the Ranks in the Michigan Democratic Party

Congratulations to AAI National Policy Council (NPC) members Taleb Salhab and Fay Beydoun and AAI member Masoud Al-Awamleh for their election as “Officers at Large” for the Michigan Democratic Party for 2007/2008. All three will serve on the Party’s Executive Committee, State Central Committee and Affirmative Action Committee for the 2008 delegate selection process. They have a long history of activism in the Democratic Party, including being elected as precinct delegates, serving on key committees, and playing leading roles in major local, state and national elections.
Arab American Heads Romney Campaign’s Eastern Iowa Effort

Crystal Bouziden is currently the Eastern Iowa Field Director for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Bouziden, a recent graduate of the University of Iowa, has previous campaign experience volunteering for the Bush/Cheney campaign in 2004 and interning on former Rep. Jim Nussle’s (R-IA) gubernatorial campaign in 2006. She has also interned for Rep. Jerry Weller (R-IL) in his Washington, D.C. office and Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) in his Cedar Rapids office.
