Arab Americans on the Move
Sami Elmansoury

Sami Elmansoury, a promising young Arab-American political activist and community leader, was selected by The New Jersey Democratic State Committee to participate in the party’s “Next Generation Training” program during its committee conference from September 24th to the 26th. Elmansoury was one of only 25 young Americans – and the only Arab-American – to be selected for a series of workshops that gave participants access to intimate party conferences and events, as well as direct access to prominent federal and state Democratic leaders. In regards to his acceptance to the program, Elmansoury said this:
“I found my acceptance into this training, and the welcome that I have received within the general Democratic sphere, to be inspiring, but also a true testament to the excellence of our country – that all of us, regardless of our racial and religious backgrounds, have a positive, profound role to play in leading America forward toward better days. My grandfather came to this country decades ago to help NASA send Neil Armstrong to the moon, and today, I am working as hard as I can to hallow his American legacy, to honor my beautiful faith and heritage, and to proudly serve my country to the best of my ability.”
As a post-9/11 Congressional Student Advisor, the first and only student recipient of Rutgers University’s “People of the Book” Award, co-founder and former president of the Human Development Project (HDP), an active volunteer and community organizer for the 2008 Obama for America Campaign, and co-founder and co-administrator of an online, grassroots group in support of the Victory 2009 Democratic Campaign, , Elmansoury is most certainly a young political and community leader.
