AAI Members Climb the Ranks in the Michigan Democratic Party
Posted on Thursday June 7, 2007
Congratulations to AAI National Policy Council (NPC) members Taleb Salhab and Fay Beydoun and AAI member Masoud Al-Awamleh for their election as “Officers at Large” for the Michigan Democratic Party for 2007/2008. All three will serve on the Party’s Executive Committee, State Central Committee and Affirmative Action Committee for the 2008 delegate selection process. They have a long history of activism in the Democratic Party, including being elected as precinct delegates, serving on key committees, and playing leading roles in major local, state and national elections.
All three are looking forward to organizing and mobilizing Arab-American Democrats in Michigan. They believe the 2008 elections will be amongst the most important this generation, and are honored to play a leading role in helping shape the future of both Michigan and the U.S. as a whole.
Their elections come on the heels of AAI NPC member Ismael Ahmed being elected as a Michigan Democratic Party Vice-Chair, one of the highest posts in the Michigan Democratic Party. Ahmed is the first Arab American to hold this position.
